Checkout & return
If you lend tools, books, or gear — or if your household shares stuff — checkout turns binthere into a lightweight library system.
Checking an item out
Section titled “Checking an item out”Tap any item → Check out. Fill in:
- Who has it — type a name, or pick a household member
- Expected return date (optional but recommended)
- Notes (optional)
The item is marked as checked out and won’t show up as “in the bin” until it comes back.
Reminders
Section titled “Reminders”binthere sends you a notification the day before an item is due back, and again on the due date. If you’re in a household, whoever has the item also gets the reminder.
Checking an item back in
Section titled “Checking an item back in”Tap a checked-out item → Check in. Optionally note which bin it went back into if it changed location.
Return requests
Section titled “Return requests”Need something back early? Tap the item → Request return. The person who has it gets a push notification with your message.
Permissions in households
Section titled “Permissions in households”In a shared household, members can be set to:
- Owner — full access
- Editor — add / edit / check out / check in
- Viewer — read-only
Set permissions in Settings → Household → Members.
History
Section titled “History”Every checkout, check-in, and move is logged on an item’s History tab — helpful for figuring out where something went.
